About Me

The page is about me (James Seal) and my website (The Garage Diaries).

About Me
My name is James. I like old Corollas. Really, I like all cars and other things automotive...but mostly I like old Corollas.

My name is James Seal. I'm a dad, a husband, a Ph.D., and an award winning car builder. I like to build things, and I like helping other people build things too. Whether it's with a welder or web browser, I build things in many mediums.

Currently, I'm a technology consultant and the Senior Director of Digital Transformations at Spruce Technologies where I help organizations like Caltrans, the Port Authority of NY & NJ, and the Washington Metrolrail Safety Commission build new digital products to communicate & work more efficiently.

In past lives I also worked at UBS, Morgan Stanley, and even the state of New York to build the New Tappan Zee bridge.

At the end of the day however, I'm just a man who feels most at home when I'm in my garage creating & fixing things. But as the age old question goes, if a car gets built in a garage and no one is around to hear it rev, does it even run (that's how that saying goes right...)? Which is what leads me to...

About The Garage Diaries

The Garage Diaries is an independent publication launched in May 2025 by me. The goal of this website is to chronicle my journey of past, present, and future automotive creations and share my exploration of automotive cultures. Content is mostly automotive in nature but don't be surprised if there's some articles about technology, music, or musings on life sprinkled in too.

If you subscribe to my website, you'll get full access to the website's content as well as email newsletters about new content when it's available. Your subscription is a small way of showing appreciation and interest for the things I make and for that I want to say thank you!

Finally, I'd love to hear from you. Knowing my stories have touched other people is very rewarding to so please don't be afraid to send me an email.
